Season 68 review

Written by Spliff cycling at 16:46 22/4-2024

Racing wise, Season 68 was the most successful season for Spliff Cycling, however the disappointing results in training will probably thwart the teams ambitions continue climbing.

  But more in the details:

  Training Review

Zenobiusz Radomski was supposed to be the next great TT hope with potentials of

  CL: Small
  DH: Small
  HL: Small
  SP: Average
  FR: Good
  CB: None
  TT: Very good
  TQ: Average

Alas, he maxed at 41 avg after 95 training points which just isn't going to cut it. He was since released and is cycling now only to the bar and back.

Ivan Dryagin was purchased half trained from team Songolooz with potentials of

  CL: Average
  DH: None
  HL: Small
  SP: Good
  FR: Small
  CB: Small
  TT: Very good
  TQ: Good

as another fine addition to a TT team but he also maxed too early at 42 avg and after 89 training points and will soon be released.

Tom Köenig is the only one left in the development program with potentials of

  CL: Average
  DH: None
  HL: Small
  SP: Average
  FR: Good
  CB: Good
  TT: Very good
  TQ: Small

Hopefully he can fulfill his potentials and join the squad long-term.

  Transfers

Due to the ongoing development of the trainign program, there weren't many funds for transfers. In came José Areosa and Na Rong as placeholders for LO1 in the sprint team and René Senn to fill the TT team.

  Race Review

The TT Team managed to pick up 186K, supported by the purchase of the Golden Hour Frames. Especially Aleksey Yozhin had a great season and finished 30th overall in the rider classification.

The cobbling team picked up 47K, mostly in the short stint the team spend in div 2 at the beginning of the year. Overall Siem Wibier seems to old to be competitive in div 1 so Richie Napier will captain the team going forward, especially in CB / HL races.

The sprint team picked up 43.5K, mostly lead by Lucas Scherff and Angus Leinpinsel who will continue to lead the team next season as well. Scherff only scored during Voltao and then bungled his TF with off-days, more is expected from him next season.

Goals for next season: Finally max a decent TT rider again (hopefully Koenig). Find and train a sprint / cobble captain and if everything goes well, also a LO1 / FR captain time. Essentially someone like José Areosa , only younger. But that's probably dreaming as scouting at div 1 is hard. On the other hand, the team doesn't have money for transfers so scouting it is...
